Come and walk the meadow

You are welcome any day, whether you're considering a plot or simply visiting someone. The gate is always open.

Opening times

Open every day, dawn until dusk. There's no need to book to visit, though we're happy to meet you if you'd like a guided walk.

Parking

There is no onsite parking at the burial ground. Everyday visitors are welcome to use the on-street parking around the nature reserve. During burial services, a small amount of dedicated parking is made available nearby at St Stephens Cemetery.

Dogs & children

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, as are children. It's a peaceful, open place to wander.

Nestled in Saltash and reached by a quiet lane, our grounds look out over the quiet waters of the Antony Passage. Full directions and a what3words location are sent with every visit confirmation.

Common questions

Can anyone be buried here?
Yes. We welcome people of any faith or none, from anywhere — though many of our families have a connection to Cornwall and the Lynher Valley.
Do I need to have chosen a funeral director?
No. You can contact us directly, and we'll work with any funeral director you choose, or help you arrange a simpler funeral without one.
What kind of coffin can I use?
Anything fully biodegradable — woven willow or bamboo, cardboard, untreated wood, or a natural wool or cotton shroud. We're glad to advise.
Can we plant a tree on the plot?
Instead of planting trees, we let the area remain a natural meadow where wildflowers are encouraged to grow. Native wildflower seeds are scattered at the time of burial, and we can provide you with a packet of this seed to scatter when you wish.
Can I reserve a plot in advance?
Of course. Many people reserve their right to be buried at Churchtown ahead of time. There's no obligation, and you're welcome to visit it whenever you wish.
